Monday Musings (5)

Monday Musings, is a weekly meme originally hosted by Should Be Reading, where we muse about one of the following:
- Describe one of your reading habits
- Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else and why you chose that/those books
- What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it
- Tell us what your reading right now - what you think of it; so far, why you chose it; what are or aren't you enjoying about it
- Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us
- Instead of the above questions, maybe you want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books

Hey Guys!!

Can you believe it's September 1st already? Happy Labor Day!!

This week on CA, I'm going to tell you a little bit about the books I'm currently reading.

Book #1: Only For You by E L Todd

Release Date: November 15th 2013
Publisher: Fallen Publishing
Genre/s: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

The Blurb

When Scarlet realized Penelope was dumping Sean, her best friend, she was devastated. Penelope was the love of his life, the woman of his dreams. Scarlet knew how far her best friend was going to fall and she had to catch him. Scarlet became Sean’s rock and helped him through a very painful breakup, but her own hidden desires bubbled to the surface in the process. When they finally gave in and slept together, she thought it was the start of their new relationship. Unfortunately, Sean didn’t feel the same.

Humiliated and heartbroken, Scarlet moved across the country and found what she least expected. She rekindled her damaged relationship with her brother, who she hadn’t spoken to in a year, and her brother’s best friend was attractive and interesting. Their relationship was natural and unforced, and she was immediately drawn to him. Would she be able to get over Sean, forget about him, by sleeping with Cortland, or would that just be another repeated mistake?

What do I think of it so far?

It's a bit funny, Scarlet trying to best her perverted ass of a boss, and Scarlet's co-worker trying to make Scarlet think that she likes Sean more than she's letting on. It's also a bit sad, Sean being heartbroken and all that he can't see what's standing right in front of him, and has been since they've met; Scarlet.

Why did I choose it?

I don't really have a reason, it's one of the newest books I've purchased off of amazon, and it's one of the books that is on the first page of my reading app.

What are or aren't I enjoying about it?

I'm not enjoying: I'd have to say the anticipation of waiting and seeing if Scar can move on from Sean or if they'll end up together in the end.

Book #2: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Release Date: June 1st 1996
Publisher: Dell Publishing Company
Genre: Historical Romance

The Blurb

Unrivaled storytelling...unforgettable characters...rich historical detail...these are the hallmarks of Diana Gabaldon's work. Her New York Times bestselling Outlander novels have earned the praise of critics and captured millions of readers. Here is the story that started it all, introducing two remarkable characters, Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser, in a spellbinding novel of passion and history that combines exhilarating adventure with a love story for the ages...

Outlander
The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life...and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

What do I think of it so far?

I'm loving it!! I can't wait to read the rest of the series; however long that may take.

Why did I choose it?

I chose this book to read because I started watching the new t.v series recently and fell in love with it. I'm now reading the book because the book I predict will be even better.

What are or aren't you enjoying?

I wish Claire and Jamie would just make a move already. You can totally see that she's pretty much fallen in love with him. < Anticipation again!! I'm enjoying it though!!
