My Thoughts

I LOVED this novel!!
It took me less than a day to devour it and boy was it good. I was not disappointed in fact I was quite surprised with how it unfolded. I loved the first two in the series, the first was my favorite but this took over after I closed the cover.

This book invoked so many emotions, and it threw curve balls at me that I didn't see coming. The whole plot was enchanting, and inspiring that love can conquer all even where seeds of doubt are planted. The characters developed quite a huge amount in this book from the other two and I found that characters I was annoyed with I grew to love as their real personalities came to light (the girls of the elite).

Thought the ending was quite sad and not what I was expecting, it did have a silver lining, and what I hoped would come of the end happened.
I'm quite elated and my money was well spent. Definitely a book I'm going to be rereading and I definitely recommend this book and series to anyone looking to read about love and forever after.

Imagine being able to fall asleep at night, only to wake in a dream world, one in which you are lucid and in control—where you can be anything you want to be and do anything you like. But you must be careful…dreaming can be as dangerous as it is seductive.

My Thoughts

I absolutely loved it! My only negative thought: it should have been alot longer, it kinda just dropped out in what I thought was the middle of the plot line. It was very short - 10 chapters I believe. The whole world the author created was pretty genius, the world is only just starting to unravel at Rooks feet with new revelations about Reve that no one knew could happen before.
I'm excited to read the second novel although from the back of the book it's Rook's friends' story this time and not his.
I loved the characters, and how Jordan is just finding her true personality as the story unravels. It was a neat way the entire thing (character's personalities & plot) unfolded right before my very eyes. The author did a fantastic job, if Reve was real I'd want to try it out for myself.

My Rating: 4/5

Book Review: What It Takes

Title: What It Takes
Author: Kathryn Ascher
Series: Rocky Creek - #1
Publisher: Boutique of Quality Books
Release Date: May 27th 2014
ISBN-13: 978-1-9393-7125-6
Source: Netgalley Arc
Genre: Romance

Synopsis

After graduating college, Kelsey Morgan left her small-town Virginia roots to make it in LA. After years slogging in commercials and music videos, her movie career is finally taking off. But she's still miles behind her current costar, and Hollywood playboy, Patrick Lyons. Kelsey does everything she can to avoid Patrick off-set, hoping to not become fodder for the supermarket tabloids that scour the streets for Patrick, trying to get an exclusive look at him and his alleged woman of the week. Kelsey has successfully kept Patrick at a distance, and her reputation intact, until her drunkard brother-in-law Richard threatens to ruin everything by selling her darkest secret to the highest bidder. Now the victim of blackmail, Kelsey has nowhere else to turn but to Patrick's arms. But, can he be trusted? Or will the past destroy them all before she can find out if he's the hero she needs?

My Thoughts

Where do I start? Overall it was a nice novel. The characters were good, I loved Kelsey and Grayson but not the other two. The plot was well developed and held up nicely and it had a lot of twists and turns, it kept me from seeing ahead, and I like that. I never knew what to expect. The novel could have been a tad longer, and could have taken off a lot faster.

For me the novel dragged on a little bit with Kelsey trying to make up her mind of should I or shouldn't I. The novel could have been longer because after the end it just dropped. We don't get to see what happens in the aftermath of the secret being let out of the bag. Will there be a second novel to this book? I hope so.

My Rating: 3.5/5

About The Author

Born and raised in Virginia, Kathryn Ascher tried her hand at poetry and fiction in high school, but put it all aside when she went to college. After graduating from Virginia Tech with her degree in communications, she married her college sweetheart and went to work for a local radio station. After her first child was born, she became a stay-at-home mom and began spending her free time crafting and reading.

It wasn’t until after the birth of her third child and a blind book exchange that Kathryn decided to give writing another try. When she picked up her first romance novel, she immediately knew that was the genre for her. She was drawn to the strong lead characters and the quirky secondary characters, the settings, the humor, and most importantly the feelings of falling in love for the first time. She hopes that her readers enjoy these aspects in her writings as well.

Kathryn recently moved from Roanoke, Virginia to Land O' Lakes, Florida with her husband and three children.

Book Review: Bitten

Title: Bitten
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Series: Woman of the Otherworld - #1
Publisher: Plume Books
Release Date: September 7th 2004
ISBN-13: 978-0-4522-8603-0
Source: Owned E-book
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Synopsis

Elena Michaels is a werewolf. She tries to be human, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must reconsider who and what she is.

My Thoughts

I must say that I was severely disappointed with this novel. It had been on my TBR list for quite some time but I did start reading it because I became interested in the television series. The book was definitely not as good at the t.v. series and usually the circumstance in my opinion is the opposite.

I wasn't disappointed so much with the story line, the story line was great and so were the characters. It was more the author's writing and how she portrayed the story. The novel could have been more fully developed and I thought that this would have been the case. Unfortunately the t.v. series was way more developed, again in my opinion.

I have so many questions about this "Werewolf" world that have gone unanswered. Simple questions that are usually answered by the end of the novel or I at least form the answer by my own conclusions.

I am however interested in the second book, which I am under the impression is still about Elena. I will read it and I am hoping it is a bit better than this novel.

Title: Undone

Publisher: Forever (Grand Central Publishing)
Release Date: July 2nd 2013
ISBN 13: 978-1-4555-4723-4
Source: NetGalley
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis
Things Paige Morrison will never understand about Mirabelle, Florida:

Why wearing red shoes makes a girl harlot
Why a shop would ever sell something called "buck urine"
Why everywhere she goes, she runs into sexy and infuriating-Brendan King

After losing her job, her apartment, and her boyfriend, Paige has no choice but to leave Philadelphia and move in with her retired parents. For an artsy outsider like Paige, finding her place in a tightly knit town isn't easy-until she meets Brendan, the hot mechanic who's interested in much more than Paige's car. In no time at all, Brendan helps Paige find a new job, new friends, and a happiness she wasn't sure she'd ever feel again. With Brendan by her side, Paige finally feels like she can call Mirabelle home. But when a new bombshell drops, will the couple survive or will their love come undone?

My Thoughts

What a lovely feel-good novel this was. I don't exactly know where to begin with my thoughts. The whole novel was like a movie playing in my head, for one because you can picture yourself in the setting of Mirabelle and place yourself in Paige's shoes as being an outsider in a small town. The novel was humorous in most spots, so much so that I was told to stop "cackling" roughly around midnight. But it was also sad in others like with the death of her father. It was tear jerker both happy tears and sad tears.

The main characters were your typical - girl meets boy, boy and girl fall in love, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back and they live happily ever after - couple. < This most of the time isn't a bad thing and wasn't in this case. Paige and Brendan had their share of flaws and skeletons in their closet and were easily relateable as I mentioned above. I could place myself in Paige's shoes.

In the beginning I never would have guessed that Brendan would get her a job working in a funeral home, that had been a twist I wasn't expecting at all. It did end up working out for her in the end and she actually enjoyed working with what she did. I also didn't expect her father to pass away with cancer. That plot twist was a blinding, mostly because of how the author introduced it into the plot was subtle but out of the blue - like all of the sudden he wasn't feeling well and had pain and the only one who noticed had been Brendan. I don't know about Pancreatic cancer from personal expierence and each instance could be different but when a family member of mine had cancer you could tell there was something wrong, it slowly got more noticeable. They should of been able to notice but in the defense of Paige and her mum, they probably didn't know the signs that started to show he had cancer.

All in all it was a very good read and I'm excited to read all about Jax and Grace's relationship...hopefully in the second book.

Book Review: Treachery In Death - By: J. D. Robb

Title: Treachery In Death
Author: J. D. Robb
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Page Count: 372
Copyright: 2011 by Nora Roberts
Publisher: The Berkley Publishing Group
Series: Book #32, series starts with Naked In Death

About the Author:
Nora Roberts was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, the youngest of five children. After school career that included some time in Catholic school and the discipline of nuns, she married young and settled in Keedysville, Maryland.

She worked briefly as a legal secretary. "I could type fast but couldn't spell, I was the worst legal secretary ever," she says now. After her sons were born she stayed home and tried every craft that came along. A blizzard in February 1979 forced her hand to try another creative outlet. She was snowed in with a three and six year old with no kindergarten respite in sight and a dwindling supply of chocolate.

Born into a family of readers, Nora had never known a time that she wasn't reading or making up stories. During that now-famous blizzard, she pulled out a pencil and a notebook and began to write down one of those stories. It was there that a career was born. Several manuscripts and rejections later, her first book, Irish Thoroughbred, was published by Silhouette in 1981.

Nora met her second husband, Bruce Wilder, when she hired him to build bookshelves. They were married in July 1985. Since that time, they've expanded their home, traveled the world and opened a bookstore together.

Through the years, Nora has always been surrounded by men. Not only was she the youngest in her family, but she was also the only girl. She has raised two sons. Having spent her life surrounded by men, Ms. Roberts had a fairly good view of the workings of the male mind, which is a constant delight to her readers. It was, she's been quotes as saying, a choice between figuring men out or running away screaming.

Nora is a member of several writers groups and has won countless awards from her colleagues and the publishing industry. Recently The New Yorker called her "America's favourite novelist."

Synopsis:

Detective Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a senseless - crime an elderly grocery store owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. This is Peabody's first case as primary detective - good thing she learned from the master.

Soon after Peabody stumbles upon an even trickier situation. After a hard workout, she's alone in a locker room when the gym door clatters open and she overhears two fellow officers arguing - while shes trapped inside the shower stall, trying not to make a sound. It doesn't take long to realise these two are both crooked and dangerous - guilty not only of corruption but also of murder.

Now Peabody, Eve and Eve's husband Roake are working to find the hard evidence they are going to need to bring down some dirty cops. Knowing full well that these bad cops are willing to kill to keep their secret.

My Thoughts:

Overall I really enjoyed this novel, although it did take me a little bit more time than I would have liked to get through it. The main characters Roarke, Peabody and Eve were extremely intriging and leaving me wanting to get to know them more than just between the cover of this book. Robb, drops little tidbits in the book about their past but not enough to reveal it totally to the reader, only enough for them to know that a certain character could've had a rocky past and thats what leads them to make certain judgements now. Hopefully I'll have the same thoughts about the other books in the series, as I did about this one.

Thanks for reading, I welcome any comments, feedback or your opinions about the book.
Happy Reading

Sincerely,
Lady M

Synopsis:

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realise she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana's quiet beauty, wit and independant spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too-but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey;s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success-his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family-Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own dark desires.

My Thoughts:

First off let me just say that this isn't a book I would have picked up off the bookstore shelf and started reading. When I was at the bookstore, I did pick this book up and read the synopsis on the back and put it right back where I found it knowing that this wasn't the book for me. The title was what caught my eye...that was until I read the back of the book and then dismissed it. And it isn't a genre I venture into. In fact even after hearing my friend tell me that I absolutely had to read this book, I still didn't. It peeked my interest when both my aunt and mother recommended the book. In all truth it was an amazing book; it has an excellent romantic story line and I am a die hard romantic and this book minus the eroctic-ness piqued my interest when I first started reading it.

The characters...oh my gosh, don't even get me started. I love Ana and her personality and Christian and his mysteriousness. It took me exactly one day to read this ebook. Minus all the hours spent catching up on all the sleep I was deprived of. I started late in the afternoon and finished the next day in the early afternoon and trust me when I say this, that i was a hard book to put down. I immediately started reading the sequel as soon as I finished the first one because of the cliff hanger the author leaves us at. I absolutely am in love with the character and the story line. I definately recommend reading the book if your looking for a die hard romance that grips your heart with a fantastically written plot line.
